Meknes stay

Meknes is a north-eastern city of Morocco, founded in 711 by the Amazigh tribe miknasa, which resulted in its name. She is the former capital of the Meknes-Tafilalet region administrative and economic capital of the region of Fez-Meknes in northern countries. This is one of the four imperial cities of Morocco and the third largest city of the Kingdom. It was the capital of Morocco during the reign of Moulay Ismail (1672-1727). The historic city of Meknes is placed under the protection of UNESCO since 1996.

Sahrij Swani Basin
Large body of water once formed deep wells equipped with water wheels (hence the name waterwheels basin), which ensured the whole town water supply especially in case of siege or drought. As her twin Marrakech (Almenara), it probably served to train soldiers to swim, while offering a pleasant space for walking.
Besides, there are stables and granaries (Hri swani) My Ismail. Currently Sahrij swani, since its restoration a few years ago, is an area popular with tourists, but also by the solitary or accompanied hikers.
The open terrain that lies between the royal palace and the pond also serves as space for several international events, including the annual international exhibition of agriculture.
Bab Mansour el Aleuj
Bab Mansour, also known as Bab El Mansour and Bab Mansour is the largest and most remarkable door of Meknes in Morocco. It is located opposite the famous Lahdim.
Bab El Mansour was completed in 17322 by Moulay Abdallah, son of Sultan Moulay Ismail. It marks the main entrance of the Imperial Palace built by Moulay Ismail. The door was designed by a Christian convert to Islam, hence its name: The door of Mansour, the renegade. The marble columns that adorn the side bastions projecting from the ruins of Volubilis.

Bab Mansour is part of the protected heritage of Meknes since 1914.
Apart from its historical value, Bab Mansour is considered by locals as a portal linking the past to the present
